This part will focus on setting up the story and introducing important characters like Hanuman. The second part will highlight the character of Ravan and the grandeur of the war in Lanka. This two-part structure has been chosen to fully reflect the vastness of Ramayana, so that the audience can experience every aspect of the story in depth.

Big Budget and Technical Excellence-
Ramayana is one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema, with the first part alone having a budget of around Rs 835 crore. A major part of this budget is being spent on VFX and post-production, with Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG being involved. The film is being shot in Mumbai and London, and the Lankan portion will be shot exclusively in London. Nitesh Tiwari has ensured that the film’s visuals and special effects are of international standard, so that it can appeal to a global audience.
Controversies and challenges-
Like every big project, Ramayana too has faced some controversies. A copyright infringement case had come up some time ago, in which Allu Mantena Media Ventures LLP had claimed that the script of the film was taken from their original project. However, there is no concrete update on the issue right now. Also, Dipika Chikhlia, who played Sita in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan, had also criticised the project, saying that people were “tampering” with the sacred story. Nevertheless, Nitesh Tiwari and his team have clarified that they intend to present Ramayana in an authentic and respectful manner.
